My goals for this website/blog are pretty simple:
1) To provide an online home for short pieces of my own fiction and non-fiction (including stories, personal essays, reflections on life in the city, appreciations of books and films, and whatever else seems worth sharing)
2) To post and publish information, ideas, links and resources useful to other writers and authors (including interviews with local artists, writers, booksellers, illustrators and anyone else I can get to talk to me!)
3) To promote the upcoming release of my novella, 'Adultescence', and seek representation/publication for its longer parent work, 'Twilight of the Adults' (lots to come on this front! Following me on twitter @PDWalter being one of the better ways to keep up with it all)
4) To keep it positive: the world is full of enough opinions as it is; I don't need to add too many of mine to the mounting piles, nor do I particularly want to get into acrimonious debates or rain on anyone else's parade. The hilarious thing about criticism is that, at both the high and the low end, it all comes down to individual taste. And at the end of the day, most of it REALLY DOESN'T MATTER (not in the 'This Changes Everything' we've-got-less-than-a-decade-to-get-things-right-or-we-are-really-in-trouble sense of REALLY MATTERING). So, to whatever extent possible - and perhaps I am already setting myself up to fail here - I will try to confine my comments on others' works to (a) those I think do something really excellently well, and therefore (b) are instructive to those of us trying to do similar things really excellently well. Appreciations, then, rather than criticisms.
For this reason, comments will be welcomed via email at pdwalterbooks (a) gmail (dot) com or twitter, and - as speedily as I am able - I will append curated comments to the original posts. Looking forward to hearing from you.
And, now, the work begins... (or, rather, continues. Let's not kid ourselves, I have been around the block enough times to wear out a few sets of tires!)
